The Zainichi Studies collective has held several symposia over the years at various institutions, including Lehigh University, Michigan State University, and the University of Utah. In March 2022, the University of Hawaii will host Empires in Motion, featuring Soo Hugh (Showrunner and producer, Pachinko), Emily Jungmin Yoon (Poet/Scholar), Dezaki Miki (Filmmaker), and Zhong Zhang (Poet).
